Today I heard the news (via x.com) that Cloudflare has announced a fork of WordPress based on Astro that runs on Cloudflare Workers. I took about 15 minutes to spin it up and this is the result. I have a lot of familiarity with Cloudflare and Workers and have even used them, plus containers, to run a full installation of Drupal CMS. The install experience for EmDash was straightforward for seasoned developers, but may be a challenge for the average person who would spin up a canned WordPress install on a managed hosting environment.
There are currently only 3 plugins showing up in the marketplace. I'm guessing there will be a mad dash of AI bots looking to fork WP modules for this platform. I'm curious what long-time WordPress developers think of this initiative.
As I work on new projects, I'll continue to post my thoughts and progress here if the editorial experience is solid and I continue using the tool.
